PETER DYKES WINS THE 2017 STAR POKER FESTIVAL TURBO EVENT - $21,227

Peter Dykes has won the 2017 Star Poker Festival Turbo Event. He out lasted a field of 204 players over nine hours of poker to become our champion and to take home the $21,227 winners cheque. Not bad for one days work!

What makes this feat even more remarkable is the fact that he won the exact same event at the WSOP Sydney held in the Star Poker room at the end of last year. There is a true art to playing these turbo events. You must keep your head when everyone else around you loses there’s and Dykes has shown that he has the capacity to do just that.

After a four-year break from the tournament circuit Dykes is back with a bang. Not only has he now won two turbo events over the space of a few months but he has also cashed in a few major events in between. This victory pushes Dykes up to around $100,000 in tournament earnings and really solidifies his presence on the poker tournament scene in this country.

Second place getter, Martin Lazarevic is also a bit of a turbo specialist. His last cash came in the turbo event at the Star Poker Summer Series. This result will be his biggest ever cash and he will use it as a stepping stone to go on and chase down the elusive tournament win that he needs to set up his resume.

The 3rd place finisher in today’s event needs absolutely no introduction in the Star Poker room. Collin Tran has just landed his second final table appearance of the 2017 Star Poker Festival. This has him absolutely primed for a big result in the Star Poker Festival Tournament Leader board. One or two more cashes could have him lock the leader board up and ensure that he receives the lion’s share of the $10,000 added prize pool that is offered for the leader board.

Another man in the same boat is Andrew Khouri. This up and comer has also made two final tables this week, the same two as Tran in fact. Before this tournament series he only had about $2,000 in cashes. That figure will be closer to five figures after his impressive showing to date.

These players are just a few of the many to watch as we get down to the business end of the Star Poker Festival. We are back tomorrow for the big one. The $1,500 APL Million and the $440 Teams event. All part of the Star Poker Festival as it reaches its climax.
