WSOP 2017

The Star Sydney is proud to announce it will host the 2017 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Sydney Circuit for the second consecutive year, from 28 November to 18 December 2017.

Promising to be bigger and better in 2017, the event will feature 13 events in 21 days with 14 coveted WSOP Gold Circuit Rings to be won. Players of all levels will have the chance to compete for a total minimum prize pool of $3.8 million across the series, including the Main Event – the jewel in the crown – with a $2 million guaranteed prize pool and $2,200 buy-in, a $500,000 guaranteed Opening Event, a $20,000 buy-in High Rollers Event, a $1,100 Monster Stack Event, Masters Event, Mixed games, Omaha events and more.
 

The Main Event is more accessible,

with four end-of-week flights in 2017

 

Two players from the Sydney circuit – the Main Event winner and the overall casino champion – will also win a seat in the 2018 WSOP Global Casino Championship, which has a US$1 million prize pool. The Casino Champion title will be awarded to the player who accrues the most points based on their performances across 11 events (Masters and Ladies events are excluded).

Last year’s Main Event winner, Joel Dodds, won $360,364 in prize money when he took out the historic event. On top of this, Dodds and 2016 Player of the Series, Christine Hia, are both heading over to represent the Star Sydney in the 2017 Global Casino Championship with a minimum US$1 million prize pool and a WSOP bracelet up for grabs. Malaysian based Hia won the title of Casino Champion by winning two separate events last year. She is looking forward to defending her titles.
