Phil Siddell Takes 2018 Sydney Championships Omaha Title Back to Brisbane! - $19,605

140 runners stepped up to the plate to see who would be the best in the four card variant of the game and take down the title of 2018 Sydney Championships Omaha Champion.

As one would expect, the tournament was filled with fun and frivolity as the nature of Pot Limit Omaha saw loads of chips flying into the middle. Cheers could be heard right around the Star Poker Room as players went all in early and hoped that the right card would hit by the river!

Whilst everyone had a great time, it was the prize money they were after. 15 players were paid with the real chunky payouts being reserved for the final table.

Michael Mayer is a well known Sydney pro who was unlucky to miss out on that final table, finishing in 10th place on the final table bubble. His absence meant that players from all over Australia embraced our final table and made it likely that the Sydney Championships title would not be staying in Sydney, a theme that has become all too common so far in this Sydney Championships series.

We had the lovely Yu Chen from Melbourne who, fresh from taking out the Mixed Game title earlier in the Sydney Championships, was a favourite for the title. However, a few costly moves early in the final table saw her bow out in 8th place. 

Andy Miller has been a prominent fixture of final tables right around Australia of late, this Omaha final table marked his 5th final table in the past 12 months, he will break through for a big title shortly but this wasn't the event with him finishing in 5th place.

That was one place above Sunshine Coast pro, Josh McCully. He had a fairly disappointing Sydney Championships by his high standards and was hoping for a deep run in this event, his sixth-place finish was close but not close enough.

Tae Woo Park was the last of the big Sydney hopes, he was playing some fine poker fresh off the back of his 15th place in the Opening Event but in the end he would finish in fourth leaving Phil Siddell (Brisbane), Adrian Rarung (Melbourne) and Htet Zin (Perth) to battle three-handed for the title.

Siddell had the most experience of the three and it showed as he masterfully worked his way through the hands and took out both of the remaining players winning himself the Sydney Championships Omaha Title, the trophy and $19,605 in first place prize money!

Omaha Event

Due to the current situation in the Sydney Championships Main Event,  there will be no reporting of the Omaha Event.

There will be a tournament summary and final placings posted in here after the event.
