The Masters Tournament is always a fun edition of poker series all around the world. The theory being that these events give players of a certain age to compete without all of the pesky professional young guns being around to spoil it for them.

The only problem with this is that more and more, the results of players in these age categories are just as impressive as those that you may expect to find in open company. That was definitely the case tonight where the name 'Masters Event' seemed more to describe that they were Masters of Poker than anything else.

The final table was stacked with talent, players like Errolyn Strang with over $400,000 in tournament earnings, Jim Psaros who took down the 2015 ANZPT Sydney Championships Main Event and Marc Liddell who has over $200,000 in tournament earnings and an impressive final table appearance at the 2016 Sydney Championships.

However, it would be Chris Kiittos who would outmaneuver all of these players to take down the biggest title of his poker career.

Kiittos was in control for much of the final table, for much of the time it seemed like either himself of Jim Psaros were dictating the momentum of the table. For this reason, it was fitting that these two finished heads-up, only to see Psaros get eliminated when his pair of Queens lost to a flopped set of Tens by Kiittos, much to the chagrin of the extremely vocal rail support the Novocastrian had for the entire final table.

Chris Kiittos is our champion taking home $13,642, the trophy and a Sydney Championships title. He showed excellent composure and tenacity through the entire tournament to make sure he made the right move at the right time. It is onwards and upwards for Kiittos who will look to emulate this performance at the end of this week when the Main Event kicks off!

Blinds Up Pace Down

Posted Wed, 01 Aug 2018 7:56pm

Our final three are now playing 15,000/30,000 with a 3,000 ante.

Well that's what the board says but in reality they are not playing anything, play has slowed down to a grinding halt here in this event,

Ann Puch eliminated in 4th - $4,449

Can't push over Puch

Posted Wed, 01 Aug 2018 7:27pm

Ann Puch is all in for her short stack against John Yacoub and Dimitrios Psaros. Both players check the board all the way. 5-club.gif9-diamond.gif7-diamond.gif6-club.gif10-heart.gif, Psaros announces he has pockets and shows 4-club.gif4-diamond.gif, Ann Puch shows 4-heart.gif10-club.gif to triple up.

John Yacoub doubles through Ann Puch

Posted Wed, 01 Aug 2018 7:18pm

Ann Puch completes from the small blind, John Yacoub moves all in from the big blind and Puch calls.

Marc Liddell moved his final 22,000 all in blind and was called by John Yacoub and Chris Kittos.

The two remaining players checked their way through the 2-diamond.gifk-club.gif3-diamond.gif9-heart.gif10-diamond.gif board and cards were turned over.

Kittos quickly turned over j-club.gifj-diamond.gif making any kind of sweat very difficult. Liddell turned over his hand and had ace-heart.gif10-heart.gif a pretty strong hand given the circumstances, but not long enough for him to avoid his elimination.

Liddell Gets Puched

Posted Wed, 01 Aug 2018 6:49pm

Marc 'Chuck' Liddell is down to bare bones here at this final table after being decimated in a recent hand by Ann Puch.

Liddell moved all in for his 165,000 stack and was called by Puch who had 141,000.

Liddell: q-club.gifj-club.gif

Puch: ace-diamond.gifj-heart.gif

Board: 2-spade.gif7-diamond.giface-club.gifq-diamond.gif6-heart.gif

That loss leaves Liddell with just 1 big blind.

Puch Pushes Forward

Posted Wed, 01 Aug 2018 6:32pm

In the time we have been watching this final table Ann Puch has gone from strength to strength.

When we first arrived she had 20,000 chips. Now just three hands later she is sitting on 150,000!.

Puch has been paying an aggressive brand of poker and has doubled up twice at the expense of John Yacoub.

On the first instance she had ace-club.gif7-club.gif all in against his 7-heart.gif7-spade.gif and rivered a wheel. Two hands later she got k-heart.gifk-club.gif all in against his ace-diamond.gifk-club.gif and won. Things are looking food for Ann Puch at he moment!

We will quickly recap those who have been eliminated though and give them their trophy posts (it is the right thing to do)
